So you have your video uploaded and you’re ready to publish it. You see the section to input YouTube Tags. What are video tags and what are they going to do for you?
YouTube Tags and the Internet
YouTube Tags are very simple if you look at it from an internet standpoint. Remember that YouTube is owned by Google which is the largest Search Engine. When you want a website to rank in Google you use Keywords to get your website to rank. If you want your video to rank in YouTube you use YouTube Tags. Also along with that, if you go to Google and search for something and select videos. Your video could come up in those search results.
When creating a video I am constantly thinking of the Title, Thumbnail and the YouTube Tags that I am going to use for my video. I want YouTube to crawl through my tags and rank my videos up with the top YouTube Creators.
Just like you have your title and thumbnails for YouTube visitors. You also need to have the YouTube Tags for the YouTube bot to crawl. Once it’s crawled the bot can decide where to rank your video amongst the millions of other videos.
Publishing a Video
Before I publish a video I have a checklist of things I need to go through before hitting that button. One of the important things is those YouTube Tags. It’s all about the SEO. Make sure your Tags that you’re using are relevant to your channel. More importantly, make sure they are relevant to the video you are publishing. That will give your video a boost amongst the other YouTube Creators publishing videos in the same category.
I hope this has helped answer some of your questions related to the YouTube Tags. If you have any other questions you can leave a comment, or feel free to contact me.
