My coworker shared with me the event of the Springfield Ohio Barnstorming Carnival. I looked it up and I was intrigued with the idea to go see all the planes that flew around in the 1920’s,1930’s, and 1940’s. With Dayton being 30 minutes away and the Birthplace of Aviation I was excited to go.
I was able to take the girls Saturday after I got off work. I found the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport that is outside of Springfield Ohio. We headed out there and went to the carnival.
The Carnival was Free!!!
The carnival was free of admission, however, they were selling bi-plane rides. We didn’t participate in the biplane rides, but one of these years we will. I think that would be an unforgettable experience.
We were able to walk around and look at some of the air planes they had on display. We got to see the different planes from that era, as they had more than bi-planes for you to see. They had a beautifully restored BMW Motorcycle, as well as a tow truck.
They hand vendors out selling all sorts of street food, as well as shaved ice. Unfortunately, we missed all of the kid’s activities, but it was still cool to see the planes, and the kids had a great time.
My Favorite Part.
My favorite part of the Springfield Ohio Barnstorming Carnival other than seeing the different planes was the restored BMW motorcycle.
It was a great experience to walk around and see some of the planes of history. I plan on going back next year and spending more time. I think it will be a great learning experience for the girls to learn about the aviation.
