If you are new to YouTube you may not know that you can do a Live Stream on YouTube. However, it’s been around for a while. For those that aren’t familiar with Live Streaming, it’s fairly simple. You use your webcam and microphone and go live with Google Hangouts. You can even add people into your Hangout and share in the fun.
Why Should you Live Stream?
Once you are live your audience can watch the Live Stream and they can interact with you through the chat that is available. Much like the YouTube comments on each video. YouTube gives you a chat that your viewers can interact with you, as well as other viewers.
If you’re not sure how to get started with Live Streaming on YouTube. You are in luck I have created a video on how to go live with Google Hangouts.
You can also use the YouTube App on a mobile device to go Live when you are out in public. I have never done it personally, however, I know multiple people that do it. The nice thing with most smartphones these days the video and audio quality is really good.
I use OBS when I am Live Streaming on Mixer. I use it to broadcast my gaming. You can see my camera, my background, and my gameplay. I have used it for Live Streaming on YouTube and added the chat on screen for people that are watching the video later. That way it all makes sense when watching after it’s no longer Live.
You can add different scenes and different effects to add to your Live Stream. I have mine set up with an opening screen, break screen and ending screen. I have more ideas, however, unfortunately, my computer won’t handle much more than what I’m putting it through.
If you want to get started in Live Streaming on YouTube. Have no fear the Google Hangouts is the easiest and you will get up and go live in minutes.
What are the Benefits
The greatest benefit that I have found for myself. It gives me the opportunity to interact with my audience. It gives me the opportunity to get to know them, and see how they are doing. The other benefit that I get out of Live Streaming on YouTube, It also gives me the opportunity to let my audience know that I care about them.
I have created a weekly Live Stream that I do on a weekly basis. I call it Saturday Night Shenanigans. It’s un-scripted and I have a couple others join me in the Live Stream. We just get together, hang out and have some fun.
It helps to have a schedule. That way your audience knows when you go Live and when they can catch your show.
