YouTube Community and the Hard Work.

Hard Work

I did this for a homework assignment. I wanted to share with you guys.  The homework assignment was on something you had to work hard on.

The most recent thing that I have worked hard on is my YouTube community.  I started it almost 3 years ago.  I have over 200 videos up on the channel that I have uploaded 1 – 2 videos a week for the past 3 years.

YouTube ChannelWhen I first started my channel, I didn’t know what I was doing.  I took video production classes in High School over 15 years ago. I enjoyed them so much that I knew I wanted to get into video production. However, back then it was right at the start of the digital age. Everything was so expensive. I couldn’t afford the equipment straight out of High School. And YouTube wasn’t around.

Fast forward about 15 years and the digital age has come a long way. Everyone has a cell phone with a camera that will do pictures and video. With my laptop that I got for my college courses, I was able to get a video editing software that I could use. I had the equipment that I needed to make my videos.

I knew I wanted to make videos, however, I didn’t know what kind of videos I wanted to make. Browsing YouTube and I came across a couple of Vloggers. They basically make a blog of their day in a video format.  I thought to myself, I could do that. However, my life was pretty boring, not too many people would be excited to watch my day.  This was around the same time we moved across the country to where my wife grew up.

I can share my adventure

The YouTube community and making vlogs has given me the opportunity to share our adventures with my family that is still in Utah where I grew up. They have a weekly video and they get to still see our kids and what we are up to. They get to see the adventures that we have as a family.

That is not the end of the story. Through this entire process, I have had to re-learn the whole video editing process. Since back in the day we did it on old outdated equipment that has changed over the years.

I had to learn the best way to film a video on my phone, or on my action camera.  I had to learn to move all the files from the camera over to my computer. The hard part was learning how to turn video clips into a full video. I had to watch multiple tutorials on how to set up the editing software and put the clips together. Through watching the tutorials, I learned to use different effects and how to modify the effects. I had to learn to export the video as a functional video.

One of the major things I had to learn was how to promote my videos and my YouTube community. I have shared them with my family, and that has always been my main purpose of sharing my videos, however, I’ve always wanted to share them with others who would be interested in sharing my journey in this new state we were living in.

Through uploading the videos to YouTube I have had the opportunity of sharing the videos with my family.  They have been able to watch my two little girls grow over the past three years and been able to share in the excitement that they have over the videos. The kids have enjoyed being a part of the videos, and my family has enjoyed seeing the videos with them in it.

Some of the Blessings

Some of the blessings that I have gained in my YouTube journey, other than the work ethic, has been the connections I have gained. I have met so many wonderful people that are also starting out in making YouTube videos.  We have a friendship that we never would have had if I hadn’t started making YouTube videos.

It also gives me the opportunity to be creative. I have never really been creative in life, however, this is my opportunity to share a creative part of me.

I have learned so much in the few short years since I started my YouTube community. I’m grateful for the opportunity that I have to share with others all about my Journey. If you have any questions please leave a comment. You can also Contact Me.
