About a year ago, my wife signed up for Dollar Shave Club. She had found a promotional coupon code and signed up with the Starter Set. She actually purchased two of the starter sets.
The Starter Set
- Body Cleanser Trial (1 fl oz)
- Razor Handle (1 ct)
- 4 Razor Cartridges
- Shave Butter Trial (1 oz)
- One Wipe Charlies Trial (3 pkts)
When you sign up for the service you sign up for a monthly shipment depending on how many razor heads you use/need a month.
We opted for the executive blade that includes:
- 6 stainless steel blades
- 4 cartridges per month
- Special trimmer edge built in for the professional
- This blade comes from the future and lives in outer space
When I opened it and started using it, I loved it. We started getting the blades delivered, for the first couple months. However, I don’t shave but once a week. I got a stockpile of razor blades. That’s not a problem. A couple months in I canceled the subscription service as I had a good amount of blades.
I have no complaints against the blade, I love the 6 blades and the shave is nice and clean and the result is a nice smooth shave. I have no problems with shaving, even though I go a week without shaving. It cuts through my week-long facial hair with no problem.
The problem I have is both of the handles that I have are broken. One of the heads is it’s rotating too far. The release button, to lead remove the blade isn’t hitting the head where it’s supposed to. The other handle I have, the release button isn’t working. I’m hitting it and it’s not releasing. It’s very disappointing as the razor showed great promise and I thought it had some decent quality. I took a look at http://dollarshave.com It appears that I’m not the only one that is having the same problem. Looking at the reviews, they are all about the handle.
I was excited to sit down and share with you some good news, however with the current state of things I can’t do that. If the Dollar Shave Club can fix their handles and the release button, they would have a really good product.
