on September 12, 2018, Apple had their annual event. They announce major changes to their products or announce new products coming out. This year one of the big updates was the Apple Watch Series 4.
This year Apple announced some major changes to the Apple Watch. They made the screen bigger and added a new processor to make the watch faster. The Digital Crown has been updated to provide haptic feedback. The accelerometer has been upgraded for up to 32 g-forces.
The main change that was made they have added an Electrical heart sensor. This makes it easy for anyone to get an echocardiogram at any point. If you feel an irregular heart rate you can launch the app and in 30 seconds you will get your ECG. The echocardiogram will be stored in the health app. You can then share that with your doctor the next time you see them.
The idea that the Apple Watchh can monitor the heart is actually a good thing in my opinion. As someone that has had problems with irregular heartbeats in the past. This would be good for anyone. Those of you that don’t know I had a heart transplant 20 years ago. Luckily, I haven’t had any problems since then, however, I remember before the transplant I had irregular heartbeat episodes 1 – 2 times a year.
Apple Vs. Android
I know there is a feud war between Android and Apple. However, I think this option should be implemented on every smartwatch out there. If it gives you the opportunity/ability to monitor your own health, why would you not want that?
I love the advances in the Health market that Apple is taking. I think if we have more tools at our disposal to take care of our health than it will be easier to become a healthier society. However, no matter what advances or technology we have, that wont do us any good if we’re not willing to make the necessary changes in our personal lives.
